Leadership / bios
Jerold R. Mande joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture in July 2009 as deputy under secretary for food safety. He leads and oversees the Food Safety Inspection Service.

Alfred Almanza, FSIS Administrator, has been with FSIS more than 30 years. He served most recently as Manager of the Dallas District, which includes more than 350 federally-inspected establishments.

Mr. Quick, who has a strong record as an advocate for the modernization of our Nation’s food safety system, has been the Deputy Administrator for FSIS since 2005.

Office of the Administrator
The Administrator is FSIS’ top official, with overall responsibility for all inspection and standard-setting activities. The Office of the Administrator (OA) oversees FSIS’ eight major programs. OA houses the U.S. Office of the Codex Alimentarius Commission and the Special Assistant for Civil Rights.

The Office of Data Integration and Food Protection coordinates and manages all homeland security activities within FSIS. It also houses the Data Analysis and Integration Group, which coordinates the Agency’s data collection, analysis, and integration activities across all program areas.
