Ordained as a Rabbi in 1973, Robert Orkand has been the Senior Rabbi of Temple Israel in Westport, a Reform Jewish congregation of over 800 families, since 1982. Arlene Kaufman is President of the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County. She is the national co-chair of Operation Promise for UJC. Beth Kieffer Leonard has been a pioneer in the accounting profession and has made an impact by leading by example. Beth is currently the managing partner of Lurie Besikof Lapidus and Company LLP, a top 100 accounting firm nationally and top 10 in Minnesota.

Currently, as the visionary for the continued development of the Women’s Center for Entrepreneurship at Metro State, she has led a team that has seen the number of Certified Women Business Owners triple in 3 years. This past year she received the Presidents Award ‘s from the Women Presidents Organization and the Advocacy Award from the Women’s Business Development Center.
As a volunteer in the Jewish Community, Beth has contributed in a variety of areas, from the beginning of the Minneapolis Jewish Day School on its executive committee for four years, to Alexander Muss High School in Israel advisory board, and continuously at the Minneapolis Jewish Federation. Currently, Beth is in her second year as President of the MJF which is in the process of the implementation of the strategic planning process which she chaired. Ms. Julie Wise Oreck was born and raised in New Orleans. She graduated from Tulane University and then went on to New York for graduate work in Property and Casualty Insurance.
She served 8 years on the National Young Leadership Cabinet of the UJC, where she held the portfolios of Women’s Campaign Chair, Co-Chair of the Southeastern Region, Co-Chair of the Southeast Regional Outreach Conference and National Mentor Chair.
After finishing her term on the Cabinet she was asked to join the Israel and Overseas Pillar of UJC. During her tenure with UJC, she served as the International Chair of OTZMA. Presently, she is a member of the Board of UJC and of the National Women’s Philanthropy.
Locally in New Orleans, Julie is Vice President of the Jewish Federation and also of Jewish Family Service. She sits on the Executive of Touro Synagogue and on the boards of the New Orleans Jewish Day School, the Community Center, Isidore Newman School, and the local chapter of Young Audiences. Regionally, she is on the boards of AIPAC and ADL, and the Jewish Children’s Regional Service. She has traveled on many missions and has been to the FSU 9 times, to Cuba and to Israel often.

Karen Pack, a longtime leader in the Jewish community, served as president of the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City.
Pack, the daughter of Holocaust survivors, is passionate about her work in the Jewish community. A longtime Federation volunteer, Pack has been a member of the board of directors and has chaired numerous committees and events including the Circle of Giving, a Community Mission to Israel and the Partnership 2000 committee. Pack has also been active within the Women’s Division serving on its board and as a past chair of its Campaign efforts. Stephen Selig is National Campaign Chairman for the 2003 Campaign for the UJC and a former Chairman of the UJC’s Human Services and Social Policy Pillar.

Bruce Sholk is Chair-Elect of THE ASSOCIATED: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore and will become Chair of the Board starting July 2010. Serving as Campaign Chair in 2007, Mr. Sholk currently leads the associated’s overall financial resource development efforts. Mr. Sholk is a member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency for Israel where he serves as Chair of the Aliyah and Klitah Budget and Finance Subcommittee. Arnold M. Eisen is the Chancellor of The Jewish Theological Seminary and Koshland Professor of Jewish Culture and Religion at Stanford University. One of the world’s foremost experts on American Judaism, Professor Eisen has worked closely for the past twenty years with synagogue and federation leadership on Jewish identity, tradition, and American Jewish community.
A product of the Conservative Movement, Professor Eisen is a frequent scholar-in-residence at synagogues across America. He has regularly served as a faculty member of the Wexner Heritage Program, the Wexner Fellowship, and the Nahum Goldmann Fellowship of the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture. He has long been well known as a passionate advocate of strengthening connections between American Jews and Israel.
Professor Eisen’s recent publications include a personal essay, Taking Hold of Torah: Jewish Commitment and Community in America (1997); Rethinking Modern Judaism: Ritual, Commandment, Community (1998); and The Jew Within: Self, Family and Community in America (2000).
Professor Eisen received a PhD in the History of Jewish Thought from Hebrew University; a BPhil in the Sociology of Religion at Oxford University; and a BA in Religious Thought from the University of Pennsylvania. He previously served as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Jewish Philosophy at Tel Aviv University, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Religion at Columbia University.

In the broader community, Mr. Fife has served as an advisor to two California Insurance Commissioners and on numerous boards and committees in the legal community and the life insurance industry. An accomplished portrait and landscape artist, Mr. Fife has exhibited his oil, pastel and watercolor paintings in galleries in the Los Angeles area. Mr. Fife graduated with merit from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland and from the University of Southern California Law Center. He also did post-graduate studies in business and economics at Tel Aviv University. A native of the San Fernando Valley, Mr. Fife has been married to his wife Linda for over 30 years. Abraham J Gafni has been a Professor of Law at Villanova University School of Law, since 1994, after retiring as a judge in Philadelphia, PA, having served on the bench for 18 years. Since 1994, he has concentrated on the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution and has lectured on this subject extensively including presentations in Israel at both Haifa and Tel Aviv Schools of Law as well as before the judges of the Israel Labor Courts and other government agencies.
In Philadelphia he currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Federation and is on the Israel Committee (which he also chaired in the past). He has served on other committees of the Federation, the Jewish Community Relations Council, and the Board of Jewish Education and as President of the Germantown Jewish Centre.
He began serving on numerous committees of JAFI from 1987-2000, including several years as the chair of the subcommittee on allocations of the Budget and Finance Committee. He withdrew from JAFI committee work by reason of his appointment as President of the Arbitration Tribunal of the International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims from 2000-2007 ( when the Commission ended its work). He has, however, continued as Chair of the Resolutions Committee of the JAFI Assembly since 1993. …Committee Member since June 2010.

Norman Goldstein is the current Vice-President for Israel and Overseas at the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, where he also served as Vice-President for Multiple Appeals, Vice-President at Large, Vice President for Leadership Development and in numerous other leadership positions. After serving in the Israeli army during the “Yom Kippur War,” Gary Heiman established Standard Textile’s first manufacturing facility, a plant in Arad at the edge of Israel’s Negev desert which opened in 1975. Today, it is the largest employer in Arad and one of the largest vertically integrated weaving mills in the world. In 2001, Mr. Heiman was awarded the “Industrialist of the Year” Prize by the President of the State of Israel. In July, 2008. Mr. Heiman received the “Pioneer of Negev” award by the President of the State of Israel which recognizes Mr. Heiman as one of the twelve major contributors to the development of the Negev desert. A holder of dual citizenship, Mr. Heiman also served in an elite, search-and-rescue unit of the Israel Defense Forces.
Before moving to Israel, Mr. Heiman received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1972. He did post-graduate work at the Georgia Institute of Technology, studying industrial engineering. He also studied mechanical engineering at the Saurer Institute in Arbon, Switzerland.
He is Chairman of the Board of The Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati and a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Cincinnati where he also serves as Chairman of the Finance and Administration Committee. Additionally, Mr. Heiman is President of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati, Chairman of the Jewish Community Center, and a member of the Cincinnati Business Committee. Mr. Heiman serves as a Committee Member since September 2008.

Mr. Seligman was born in Detroit, Michigan and has been involved most of his life in the establishment and operation of family-owned businesses.
He is a graduate of the University of Michigan. During 1973 and 1974 Mr. Seligman was Vice-President of Seligman of Florida, Inc.; In 1976 Mr. Seligman become Group Vice-President of Seligman & Associates, Inc. and from 1977 to 1983 he was President, Director and CEO of Seligman & Associates, Inc. Cynthia D. Shapira is an independent management consultant to non-profit organizations and an active community volunteer. Her most recent clients include LEAD Pittsburgh (leading education and advocacy on depression), KidsVoice, and the San Francisco Museum and Historical Society.
Community leadership roles include co-chair of the Pittsburgh Promise Corporate Campaign, UJF of Greater Pittsburgh Foundation, and UJF Foundation Fund for a Jewish Future capital campaign.
